Nfl Experts tips Dallas Cowboys At New York Giants

Dallas Cowboys at NY Giants

The Cowboys hold a significant historical advantage in their series against the Giants, with a commanding lead of 73 wins, 46 losses, and 2 ties. In their most recent meeting on November 24th of the previous season, the Cowboys emerged victorious with a score of 28-20, completing a season sweep. Impressively, Dallas has dominated this series, winning 11 of the last 12 matchups, including the last four consecutive games.

Notably, the Cowboys and Giants have commenced a season against each other 11 times, with Dallas emerging victorious in 10 of those instances. The sole defeat occurred in 2016, during Dak Prescott’s rookie season.

Dallas enters this game with an impressive offensive track record, averaging the most points per game (28.4) over the past two years when Dak Prescott is at the helm. However, this statistic was achieved with Kellen Moore as the offensive coordinator, so it remains to be seen how the offense will evolve under the leadership of Mike McCarthy.

The Cowboys have bolstered their offense by adding Brandin Cooks and welcoming back a fully-recovered Michael Gallup. They’ve also aimed to increase their offensive speed with players like Cooks and KaVontae Turpin joining the receiving corps. Additionally, Tony Pollard is slated to be the starting running back, with Deuce Vaughn in reserve.

Dallas faces a formidable Giants’ defensive line, featuring Dexter Lawrence, Leonard Williams, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Azeez Ojulari. However, the Giants’ secondary is relatively young and inexperienced, which might prompt the Cowboys to attack through the air if their pass protection holds up.

Dak Prescott is on the cusp of reaching an intriguing milestone, as he needs just 53 passing yards in this game to reach 25,000 for his career. Alongside Aaron Rodgers, he will become one of only two quarterbacks to achieve this milestone while also amassing 1,500 rushing yards in their first 100 games. Prescott also boasts an impressive 27-7 record against NFC East opponents in his career.

The Giants’ head coach, Brian Daboll, earned NFL Coach of the Year honors in 2022 for revitalizing the team and guiding them to the Divisional Round of the playoffs, marking their first playoff appearance in six years.

Trevon Diggs has had notable success against the Giants in his career, accumulating 24 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and three interceptions in six games, including a pick-six.

CeeDee Lamb has been particularly productive against the Giants, amassing 37 receptions for 494 yards, making them his most yielding opponent in terms of receiving yards.

Tony Pollard is set to begin the season as the primary running back for Dallas. He has enjoyed success against the Giants, rushing the ball 84 times for 404 yards, averaging an impressive 4.8 yards per carry.

My Pick

The upcoming clash between the Cowboys and Giants in a Week 1 primetime showdown is indeed a classic NFC East battle. The Giants have extra motivation to seek revenge after being swept by Dallas in their previous encounters.

Brian Daboll and his offensive coaching staff have an opportunity to introduce new strategies and plays for Daniel Jones and the offense, potentially catching the Cowboys off guard. Wink Martindale’s defensive scheme could also keep the game competitive and possibly result in a lower-scoring matchup, even if the Cowboys’ defense controls the tempo.

Think the Giants look a strong offering, and strong teams typically shouldn’t be considered underdogs by 3.5 points at home in Week 1. I want to be with the Giants at home with the plus start.
